Reverend Samuel M. Collier
8th Pastor
Reverend Samuel M. Collier was elected to serve as pastor of Mount Calvary in
January 1963 at the age of 21.
His accomplishment during his administration:
The Missionary Society was divided into circles.
Nine acres of land was purchased.
The parking lot was paved.
Central air conditioning and heat were installed.
A new parsonage was constructed on 3rd Avenue (Esther Rolle Avenue).
Usher Board number two was organized in 1963.
The youth Choir and Youth group were combined to form the first Youth Ministry.
The first Family Day Program was instituted in November of 1975.
The Negro Spiritual Choir was also organized in 1975.
Reverend Collier rendered fourteen years of service and resigned in 1977.
